Privacy

This notice covers personal information we collect in Metro Vancouver — on the phone, on a job, and on this site. Last updated September 2026.

Calder Restoration operates from 1201-888 Homer St, Vancouver, BC V6B 0H7. To reach us about privacy: call (604) 968-5835. The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies to how we handle personal information in the course of commercial activity. This page is for Canada. It is not the New York notice.

What we collect

A dispatch ticket needs what happened, the address, and how to reach you. That is usually a name, phone number, property address, unit or strata details if they matter, and a short description of the loss. If someone else called — a property manager, a neighbour, an insurer — we also record who that was.

On site we collect what the job requires: photographs of the damage, moisture readings, a drying log, an inventory of packed-out contents, and notes on access, hazards, and who authorised the work. If you pay us directly we collect what the payment needs (Interac e-Transfer, card, or cheque). If an insurer, strata, or adjuster is on the file, we collect claim or file numbers they give us.

This website does not run an account, a chat, or a form that stores your name. “Tell us what happened” is four taps that send you to first-hour instructions, then the phone. We do not currently run advertising pixels or a marketing mailing list on these pages. The site still logs ordinary web-server data (the page requested, time, and a truncated address) so the pages stay up.

Why we use it

We use personal information to dispatch a crew, do the work, keep the drying log, invoice you, bill an insurer when you have asked us to, and defend a file if there is a dispute. That is the purpose. We do not sell lists. We do not buy lists. We do not use a loss address to market unrelated services.

Photographs of your property that identify the house or the people in it are part of the job file. Publishing those photographs on this site, in ads, or in a case study takes separate written permission. Illustrative images already on the site are not your job.

Who we share it with

We share what a job requires with people already on that job: the crew, an adjuster or insurer you have directed us to, a strata council or property manager who authorised access, and a plumber or other trade we bring in with your knowledge. Payment processors see what they need to complete a transfer or a card payment.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or if we must protect someone from a serious and imminent threat. We do not hand a drying log to a neighbour who asks.

CASL — commercial electronic messages

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation applies if we email or text you to market, not to run the job. Consent for marketing is off by default. A dispatch call, an invoice, a drying-log update, or a “we are 20 minutes out” message is not a marketing blast. If we ever send a newsletter or a promotion, it will say who we are, how to unsubscribe, and it will not go out unless you have consented or another CASL exception clearly applies.

How long we keep it

Job files — photos, readings, invoices, scopes — are kept for as long as we need them to close the work, meet tax and insurance requirements, and answer a later dispute. That is typically years, not weeks. When a file is no longer needed we destroy or de-identify it. Web-server logs are rotated on a short cycle.

Security

Files sit with the people on the job and in the office systems we use to invoice and log moisture. Phones and cameras on site are working tools, not a public gallery. No office is perfectly sealed. If we become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.

Your access

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask how we have used it. Call (604) 968-5835 or write to 1201-888 Homer St, Vancouver, BC V6B 0H7. We will respond within the time PIPEDA allows. We may refuse in the narrow cases the Act permits — for example if the request would reveal someone else's information — and we will say so.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Children

This site is not aimed at children. A dispatch ticket may mention that children live in the home so the crew knows who is on site. We do not market to minors.

Changes

We may update this page. The date at the top is the current version. If we change how we use information in a way that is not compatible with the original purpose, we will tell you.
